The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has appointed Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, the former minister of state for primary education as the secretary for mobilization and cadre identification at the party’s secretariat.
Seninde, who is also the former Woman MP for Wakiso district replaces former East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP, Mathias Kasamba, who succumbed to Covid-19 in April this year.
The appointment of Seninde was endorsed by NRM’s top organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) during a meeting chaired by President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the party’s national chairman, on Wednesday at State House, Entebbe.
Seninde, a teacher by profession, was appointed Minister for Primary Education in 2016 and has been a woman member of parliament for Wakiso District since 2001.
In 2021, she was dumped by the voters in favor of NUP candidate Betty Naluyima, bringing an end to her two-decade dominance in the political arena of the district.
