The management team and health workers of Adjumani hospital are panicking after the police have today taken over the investigations of infant mortality that occurred on July 8, 2021.

A seasoned midwife Acen Christine who was on duty has been accused of criminal negligence and now faces court action.

The crisis infant mortality audit that was conducted by the hospital management team points to series of acts of professional criminal negligence leading to the death of two days old baby Gloria Ilisi according to a source that was part of the death audit team.

The family lawyer Ignatius Omacet today told journalists that he has received express permission from Mindra Severino the father of the lifeless infant to institute legal action against midwife Acen Christine and Adjumani hospital.

Counsel Ignatius Omacet said Mindra Severino has already filed a complaint at Adjumani Central police station under police special dairy reference number 39/13/07/2021.

Following the complaint, the police has by now preferred a charge of specific rush and negligent Act under section 2028{e}of the penal Act.

The counsel Ignatius Omacet however says the police has preferred a lesser charge which is a misdemeanor and has vowed to approach the resident state attorney to amend the charge to a felony.

In a tense meeting with the family of the deceased baby Gloria Ilisi this morning, members of the hospital management team who were quaking as banana leaves pleaded to have the errant midwife Acen Christine pardoned but the family members did not relent.

The disgruntled family members brought overwhelming evidence that silenced the entire management team including the medical superintendent Dr. Ambaku Michael who throughout the meeting sided with the villain staff.

The father of deceased Mindra Severino testified how midwife Acen Christine disregarded the advice of the doctor and gave sefotax injection at midday on July 6, 2021, when the injection was supposed to be administered at 2:00 pm.

Mindra Severino tearfully further narrates that when the midwife realized the baby was going into a coma she hurriedly administered another injection of phenobarbitone stimulating fluids to flow from the nostrils, ears, and the mouth of the baby, a a day later the innocent baby Gloria Ilisi passed.

The Adjumani hospital administrator Oja Michael conceded that he summoned the relatives of the infant to explain the events leading to the death of the infant since it is his responsibility and that the hospital management cannot stop the parents from pursuing justice.

He admitted that the action of the midwife Acen Christine is regrettably while noting that healing is a process because the parents are visibly bitter.
