Covid-19 claims Prof. Kamuntu’s son, Henry Ruchwere

Henry Ruchwere

The Former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Mr. Ephraim Kamuntu has lost his son, Henry Ruchwere Kamuntu, a renowned top banker, to the novel coronavirus.

Ruchwere Kamuntu, the Head of Power and Infrastructure at Stanbic Bank Uganda, has succumbed to COVID-19.

Ruchwere was instrumental in Stanbic Bank’s initiative to finance investors in Uganda’s oil and gas sector amidst growing opposition against fossil fuels including oil and gas in favour of renewable energy.

This followed the signing of the East African Crude Oil Pipe Line (EACOP) project between the governments of the Republic of Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania and other key sectoral stakeholders like Total E&P.

His colleagues have described him as a happy person who always had an infectious smile.

“The jolliest fellow on the golf course. How we will miss that roaring laughter and infectious smile. Go well brother, condolences to your family and Hon. Ephraim Kamuntu,” said a one Samuel Sekajja, one of his colleagues.
