Monitor Journalist nursing wounds after Police battering

ADJUMANI DISTRICT: An Adjumani based journalist attached to Daily Monitor is currently nursing wounds after being reportedly assaulted by Police officers enforcing curfew directives.

Reports in Adjumani say Iceta Scovin Metedio attached to Monitor Publications Ltd was on Thursday evening assaulted and injured by Police officers as he was returning from Mungula refugee settlement from covering a story.

It is alleged that Police accused Scovin of taking pictures of their officers enforcing curfew at 7pm.

According to another NMG Journalist Mr. Felix Warom Okello, Scovin sustained serious injuries on the mouth and legs.

Okello added that in the process, Scovin lost his tripod stand, Ugx 70,000 and a camera charger.

Police was yet to issue a statement on the incident by press time.
