KAMPALA: Sandra Nansambu has been crowned the winner of the Pearl of Africa (POA) Star Search competition walking away with shs 60 million grand cash prize.
Nansambu,19, was announced the winner at the grand finale of the competition’s first edition on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
She also becomes the new tourism ambassador of Uganda.
With a fiery passion, Nansambu used her voice to sing about hope, acceptance, and triumph for all persons with disabilities.
She won the hearts of the jury, judges and Ugandans to be crowned the overall winner of POAStar.
The top six finalists in the POA star Search included; Yesuanjagala Carsteen(POA25), Agami Tonny(POA03), Nansambu Sandra (POA06), Bruce Dickson (POA12), Balunya Ibrahim (POA08), and Mirembe Tracy (POA15)
Central regional star, Mirembe Tracy and eastern regional winner Balunya Ibrahim won a recording deal as well as a booking at TAG Studios.
The function held at the Victoria Ball Room Hall at Speke Resort Munyonyo was graced by Uganda Tourism Board CEO, Ms. Lilly Ajarova, Tourism Minister, Mr. Tom Butime, and former minister Godfrey Kiwanda Kiwanda Ssuubi among others.
The Pearl of Africa Star Search is powered by The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, MTN Uganda, NBS Television, Radiant, Coca Cola, Uganda Talent Managers Association, Uganda Musicians Association, Graphic Systems, House of Djs, Talent Africa Group and Uganda the Pearl.
