The Federation of Uganda Football Association – FUFA has appointed Moses Basena as the assistant coach of the Uganda Cranes replacing Livingston Mbabazi who recently agreed terms to join Arua Hill SC as their headcoach.
Basena will deputize newly re-appointed head coach Milutin Micho Sredejovich ahead of the 2022 World Cup Qualification campaign.
“Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin Sredojevic has named Moses Basena as replacement for Livingstone Mbabazi in the position of assistant coach of the National Senior team,” FUFA said in statement.
“Mbabazi opted to remain at his club yet FUFA’s objective is to have a national team coach who is not attached to any club. The Head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff,” the statement adds.
Basena parted ways with Sunrise FC in Rwanda, is also a target for URA FC who will be taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Basena was Micho’s assistant coach at Uganda Cranes and was elevated to head coach in 2017 when the Serbian left.
He has previously coached Simba SC, URA FC, The Saints, KCCA FC, UPDF FC, and SC Villa among others.
