Gen. Lokech to be accorded state funeral, burial on Friday

KAMPALA, UGANDA: – The late deputy inspector general of Police, Maj Gen Paul Lokech will be buried with full honors from the police and a gun salute presented by the UPDF.

According to tentative burial arrangements released by Uganda Police Force on Sunday, the pallbearers at his funeral will be UPDF officers at the rank of Maj Gen while the sword bearers will be police officers at the rank of commissioner.

Lokech who passed away on Saturday, will be laid to rest on Friday August 27, 2021, at his ancestral home in Baibir village, Ludele parish, Pader district.

His body will on Wednesday this week be taken to his home at Kitikifumba, in Kira division for prayers and viewing.

However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the number of those accessing the home of the deceased may be restricted.

“We want to inform all mourners and well-wishers planning on visiting the family or attending the vigil and service that due to COVID-19, they are reminded to wear a mask, sanitize or regularly wash hands and maintain social distance.There is a capacity limit with the burial arrangement at the home in Kampala, in Pader and at the burial grounds in Baibir village,” Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said whole being the press at Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

“Our enforcement teams will maintain safety and security within and around all venues,” he added.
