MBALE, UGANDA: Four people were killed on spot and three others nursing critical injuries after an early morning accident in Mbale city that happened along Mbale-Tororo road adjacent to Mbale city bus park.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after a speeding Fuso truck registration number UAQ 094W lost control and rammed into two boda boda cyclists killing them instantly before knocking a pick up belonging to Mbale district local government registration number UBE 669Q.
The pickup also rammed into two people seated along the roadside killing them instantly. One of those dead is Tayibu Bugolo, the chairperson of Malaba stage.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police spokesperson confirmed the accident but didn’t divulge details.
Another eyewitness, Assina Musenero, blamed the accident on the narrow road which is further narrowed by buses that park on the roadside.
Like Musenero, the chairperson of Park Cell, Umar Wamala also says buses that park along the road cause a lot of jam, which has resulted into several accidents at the same spot.
The victims were unidentified by presstime.
