The late Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Paul Lokech alias “Lion Of Mogadishu” will today, Friday, August 27 be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Baibir Village, Ludele parish, Pader Town Council, in Pader district.
Gen Lokech was pronounced dead last week on Saturday and postmortem reports carried out after revealed that the fearless army general succumbed to a blood clot thrombosis.
Lokech was appointed Deputy IGP on 16 December 2020 and will greatly be remembered for leading special military Operations in Somalia and defeating Al Shabaab insurgents among other operations.
At the time of his appointment in the Uganda Police Force, Maj Gen Lokech was serving in South Sudan where he was monitoring on behalf of the guarantors of the South Sudan peace process, the assembling, screening, demobilization and integration of the armed forces of South Sudan.
Lokech’s last public appearance was last month at the Police Headquarters in Naguru where he gave progress of investigations into the arrest of suspects in the killing of Gen Katumba Wamala’s daughter Brenda Nantongo and driver Sgt Haruna Kayondo. MHSRIP
His burial according to forces spokesperson Fred Enanga will be with full honors from the police, while the gun salute will be presented by the UPDF.
The pall bearers are UPDF officers at the rank of Major General, while the sword bearers are police officers at the rank of Commissioner.
