20 Ugandans secure Hungary scholarships

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The ministry of Education and Sports has dispatched 20 Ugandan students who qualified to study in Hungary under the stipendium hungarucum scholarship.

Seeing off the students at Hotel Africana on Wednesday this week, state minister for higher education John Chrysostom Muyingo urged them to broaden their scope of study as well as being good ambassadors of Uganda in Hungary.

The students are set to study bachelor’s and post-graduate courses while in Hungary.

“The selection has been thorough and transparent, and the team has followed the rules to the latter. Therefore, you should display the highest degree of discipline and if it is to win in any way it should be a Ugandan student,” Muyingo said.

The Honorary Counsel of Hungary to Uganda Gordon Wavamuno urged the students to focus on their studies.

Kate Lamaro, the education ministry’s permanent secretary said, “We value your leaving the country to go and study and we also value your return to develop Uganda in the various sectors of agriculture, engineering, medical and technology.”
