APAA LAND CONFLICTS: There is tension in Apaa as the body of Idro Edward who was allegedly abducted by a gang group suspected to be from the warring Acholi community as they were going to the garden, on September 19, 2021, has been recovered.
The deceased, Idro Edward aged 34, was in the company of 44 years old Apiku Geoffrey and Buni Justine who both narrowly survived death.
The body according to the Itirikwa Sub-county chairman Iranya Jesus was recovered from the wilderness of Zoka C village.
The search team led by the joint forces of the UPDF, the police, and youth vigilantes recovered the body at around 4:00 pm, Tuesday 2021-09-21, about 4 kilometers from Zoka C center.
The Ali clan chief Chandiga Ben said the council of elders has convened a meeting to make preparations for the burial amid what he termed as growing tensions among the Madi community.
Chief Chandiga Ben described the action of the killers as inhumane and barbaric and called for expeditious investigations so that the murderers will be brought to book.
He said”. This unfortunate incident is likely to injure the peace process that President Yoweri Museveni has initiated between the Acholi and Madi communities over the disputed Apaa land.
The Adjumani district vice-chairman Kaijuka Richard has said indeed it is true Idro Edward aged 40, was found dead by a security team this evening in the wilderness of Zoka.
Kaijuka Richard called for calm and total restraint from the enraged residents since two wrongs cannot make a right.
The Adjumani deputy RDC Mugweri Moses who spoke for the office of the RDC said he is not aware of the development in Apaa since he was officiating at the International world peace day event in Nyumanzi refugees’ settlement.
In 2017, such tensions between the two communities that went on unsolved by government resulted in the infamous rivers Esia and Gorobi battles where the sharp arrow shooting Madi community inflicted maximum causalities’ and the attacking Acholi community.
