KAMPALA, UGANDA: Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic has named a pool of 32 players to face Rwanda Amavubi Stars in the upcoming double-header tie in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers.

There are a few surprises as a couple of new faces including Julius Poloto, Wafula Innocent, Najib Fesali, Livingstone Mulondo, Geofrey Wasswa, Kakooza Mahad, Mato Rogers, Kizza Martin, Lwanga Charles, Sadat Anaku, Rwothomio Cromwell, and Stephen Mukwala all made the final squad of 23 home-based players who ply their trade in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Remarkably, Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi, Murushid Jjuuko, Farouk Miya, Ronald Mukiibi, Kizito Luwagga, Derrick Nsibambi have all been dropped, making the list of big names who missed out on Micho’s final list of the squad set to travel to Kigali this week.

Okwi and Miya are out as the duo is attached to no club yet, while Jjuuko is suspended after getting a red card against Mali. Mukiibi is injured and Nsibambi has just gotten signed to a new club in Ethiopia and therefore lacks match fitness.
