KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala has appointed Fred Bamwesigye the new Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
In an instrument of appointment Wamala dated September 28th, 2021, Gen Katumba announced the appointment of Bamwesigye who has been serving as Acting Director-General for over one year to the new position effective ist October 2021.
“In accordance with Part IV Section 14(1) of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority act, Cap 354. I hereby appoint you as Director General, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority,” the appointment letter reads in part.
According to the instrument of appointment, Bamwesigye will be entitled to a monthly salary of Shs 30m, an official car, and security.
About Fred Bamwesigye
Fred Bamwesigye, born in Ruhaama, Ntungamo Municipality, previously served as Human Resource Manager at National Environmental Authority (NEMA) before joining CAA to serve in the same position.
He was later appointed Acting Director General following the retirement of Prof David Kakuba early last year.
Bamwesigye comes in at a time the institution is registering low revenues due to limited travel as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He will as well oversee implementation of multi-million dollar projects aimed at expanding and transforming Entebbe International Airport and regional airfields.
