RWAMPARA, UGANDA: Three people have died on the spot and scores injured after a bus transporting passengers from Kampala to Ntungamo district got involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota Carina car along the Mbarara – Kabale highway in Rwampara district.
Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirmed the incident saying a speeding Bismarkan bus registration number UAQ 079W heading to Kampala rammed into a vehicle registration number UAV 977P that was heading to Ntungamo and motorcycle registration number UET 535K also heading in the same direction.
The deceased were two passengers aboard the Carina car a bodaboda rider who were still unidentified by press time.
Kasasira told this website that although the exact cause of the accident has not been established, he can not rule out overspending given the impact on the vehicles.
Police reports further indicated that passengers were evacuated with no deaths reported from the occupants while those who sustained minor injuries were taken to Mbarara Regional hospital for further treatment.
