NAKASONGOLA, UGANDA: Police has confirmed that three people died on spot, and three others sustained critical injuries following an accident that occurred in Nakasongola district on Sunday evening.
The accident happened around 7.30 pm at Kyankonwa village in Kakooge Sub-County about 90 kilometers into Nakasongola along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
This came after a Toyota Harrier Registration Number UAZ.264S destined for Kampala from Gulu collided with a Toyota Mahindra registration number UBE153L destined for Nakasongal from Kampala.
The deceased have been identified as Manpreet Singh, 39, and Surrinder Pal Singh, 37, both Indian nationals and residents of Nakasongola, and Aziz Onach, 38, also a resident of Katuugo in the same district.
Onach was driving the Toyota Mahindra, which transporting the Indians to Nile Fiber Board Company at Kinoni in Nakasongola.
Police also identified the injured as one Ganeshi, 42, also an Indian National and a resident of Nakasongola, Odyeke Christopher, 27 and Tonny Ogwal Tonny, the driver of the Toyota Harrier.
The injured were rushed to Nakasongola Health Centre IV.
Isah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson says the deceased’s bodies are also lying in the mortuary at the same facility-pending postmortem.
