KAMPALA, UGANDA: NTV Uganda offices and its televised broadcast went off air for an hour after the station reported a fire outbreak on Thursday evening.
The fire that is said to have started minutes to the 7 pm news broadcast has forced the management of the Nation Media Group-owned station to suspend its broadcast programming until further notice.
According to social media reports, it all started with an AC cooler in the transmitter room blowing although there is suspected foul play with some employees claiming someone could have triggered it off.
“The whole newsroom is smelling smoke,” one of the staff who preferred anonymity told this reporter in a snippet text.
