UPDF soldier, civilian arrested for murder, aggravated robbery

IBANDA, UGANDA: Police in Ibanda are holding a Uganda Peoples Defence Force-UPDF soldier and civilian accused of kidnapping and killing a boda boda rider. The suspects are RA143341 CPL Mustafa Kajoomu alias Joseph Muwanga Jajja from Mukono and Michael Ahimbisibwe, a resident of Bushenyi district.

Another suspect identified as Nathan Abaho is on the run. The trio is wanted in connection to the death of Rogers Musiime 35, a resident of Katooma 1 cell, Ibanda municipality, a former employee of Ibanda babies home and boda boda rider.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson says the arrest of the suspects follows a case of disappearance registered at Ibanda Central Police Station on November 5th, 2021 by Musiime’s relatives. He says that using the security CCTV cameras, police managed to track down Kajoomu and Muwanga from their hideout in Ibanda.

“We have been tracking these people for almost two weeks now. As we looked through the footage from our CCTV we managed to follow them to their hideout,” he said. He revealed that they are still looking for the third suspect Abaho, who they suspect is in Kampala where Musiime’s motorcycle was taken.

According to Kasasira, the suspects led police to a farm in Rwentojo in Bwizibwera town council along Mbarara-Ibanda, where they killed and dumped the deceased’s body in the bush before making off with his Bajaj boxer motorcycle registration number UFH 510F.
