Pastor strangles woman to death while conducting deliverance prayers

KOLE, UGANDA: Police in Kole district have detained a pastor and his two ushers for allegedly strangling a woman to death while performing Deliverance prayers on her.

The suspects have been identified as  Pastor Jasper Oyo and his two ushers Francis Odongo and Alex Ojok.

According to police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, these went for deliverance prayers in Agweli village and while there, they organised different prayer sessions where they identified a 49-year-old woman whom they claimed had demons and needed deliverance.

“ It is alleged that they smeared oil on the lady called Atim Milda and started massaging her from the legs to the head. But when they reached the upper parts of the body, they started twisting her head with a lot of force and incidentally broke her neck,” Enanga said.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, now deceased started crying out loud for help but the pastor’s claimed she was yelling because of the demons.

However, when they discovered that she was unconscious, they rushed her to their church and later to the hospital where she passed on.

Enanga revealed that the 3 suspects have been arrested and charged with murder and awaiting court appearance.

Enanga advised pastors and gospel preachers to be more vigilant while carrying out these deliverance prayers claiming that people have their own problems.
