Uganda Para Badminton Tourney receive Shs10m Sponsorship from Ruparelia Foundation

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Big-hearted Tycoon Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia through his arm of Ruparelia Foundation and Victoria University has extended a sponsorship package of shs 10m towards the ongoing Uganda Para-Badminton International Tournament to support the sporting activity in the country.

The para-badminton tournament which targets people with disabilities (PWDs) kicked off on November 15, 2021 and ended today Sunday, 21 November 2021.

Speaking about the delivery of the sponsorship package, Victoria University through its socials emphasized the need to support such sporting activities to grow the youth talent not only in Uganda but across the world.

“With teams from all over the world competing for the ultimate prize, we are supporting every country whose students are studying with us,” Victoria University said in a tweet.

The Para-badminton tournament happening in Uganda

Over 24 countries registered to take in this tournament at the Lugogo MTN Arena with India bringing in the highest number of players.

Indian shuttles featuring Tokyo Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat were the most rated team of the 5-day Uganda Para-Badminton International 2021 tournament in Kampala after winning a whopping 47 medals with 16 gold medals, 14 silver, and 17 bronze medals.

“It was a good match and it feels good to break the jinx and win a gold medal after 2 years. This will motivate me to work harder,” India’s Sukant Kadam said.
