Nsenene Vendor apologises to CAA, Uganda Airlines for ‘misconduct’

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The man who was filmed in the viral video vending Nsenene (grasshoppers) aboard the Uganda Airlines Plane has come out to apologize for the misconduct and embarrassment he caused the country and the airlines business in general.

The video that was filmed on Friday showed the man carrying the Nsenene in a big blue polythene bag selling the snacks at shs 10,000 to the passengers.

In reaction to the incident, several commentators came out to scrutinize the act labeling it as a blasphemy to the country which has since forced the ‘suspension’ of some of the staff at the Uganda Airlines by the Minister for works Gen Katumba Wamala.

And now in the turn of events, the man identified as Mubiru Paul has come out to issue an apology to the Uganda Airlines Management, and the Ministry of Works and Transport.

“My name is Mubiru Paul a 27 year old Ugandan who appears in the viral video circulating on social media where I appear to be vending grasshoppers aboard Uganda Airline flight UR 446 to Dubai on Friday 26th November 2021,” said the Nsenene Vendor in an apology letter dated November 27, 2021.

“I am sorry to the fellow countrymen and women, the staff of Uganda Airline, passengers and everyone hurt by the act on board. I recorded that video in question not to tarnish or ashame the Airline, the country or the passengers on board but for comedy purposes specifically Tiktok deeds,” Mubiru added.

According to the 27 year old, what appears as vending in the video was all for comical purposes but never for transactional gains.

“I continue to send in my apology and I authorize you to make my apology public so that the other parties affected can also forgive me. Attached is my passport as proof and also a recorded video of my apology,” he further stated in the apology.

The apology is in copy to the CEO Uganda Airlines, and the Station manager Entebbe Civil Aviation Authority plus the Ministry of Works and Transport
