3rd Deputy Prime Minister, Gen Moses Ali with a team of delegation from Italy

On Thursday 25th, Nov 2021, Ambassador to Italy Her Excellency Elizabeth Paula Napeyok led an Italian delegation to Madi sub-region districts that comprise Adjumani, Moyo, and Obongi districts respectively. The delegation according to Gen Moses Ali has come to explore investment opportunities in the Madi sub-region in different areas of agriculture, energy, infrastructure, medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, fashion design and veterinary among others.

According to him, their visit is in line with the Uganda National Development Plan 3 and export Action Plan of 2016, which identifies export-oriented growth as one of the key development strategies towards achieving sustainable wealth creation, employment and growth inclusive.

“To deliver the National Development Plan, a Multi-sectoral approach has to be employed in order to galvanize our efforts towards achieving the set objectives”, Says Ali.

Against this background, in October 2018, the autonomous region of Sardinia and Ma’di sub region signed a memorandum of understanding at Multipurpose youth center Adjumani to cement their collaborative engagements. However this has never gone well, as reporters tried to get in touch with the Italian teams to explain to the people of Ma’di sub-region what actually happened to this Memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed four years ago?

“This marriage of development gives us an opportunity to make synergies that will enable us to exploit the enormous and untapped resources in Ma’di sub region and the country at large”, say Gen Moses Ali.

He also urged all Ma’di people to embrace the proposed projects and provide necessary guidance and support when need arises and thanked her Excellency Ambassador Elizabeth Paula Napeyok, Uganda’s Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Sergio Pompa, Uganda’s Honorary Consul in Bari, Italy.

Father Vura Obulejo, a Ugandan Priest based in Calabria, Italy, and all the political leaders of Ma’di sub region. But when Mr. Latigo Collins the former failed contestant for Member of parliament Adjumani West was asked why the politicians in this region have popped their noses in this matter but refuted the allegations saying it’s baseless, the politicians get nothing to do with these investors but yet to see if his words will not be swallowed or will come true. The diverse professional and entrepreneurs or investors comes from a region called Bari region in Italy.
