JINJA, UGANDA: Big-hearted businessman Rajiv Ruparelia together with his RR Rally Team over the weekend donated items worth millions of shillings to Home of Hope in Jinja, an institution looking after disabled children in the eastern region.
Under their slogan of “We rise by lifting others”, the Rajiv Rally team donated goodies including soap, utensils, mattresses, bread, among others to uplift and support the activities of the institution and the life of the children at large.
“After the Jinja Sexy Speed Rally, Team RR visited the Home of Hope, JINJA. These children suffer from many disabilities, however, as long as we keep supporting them as a community we shall be able to achieve,” Rajiv Ruparelia noted.
“Visiting the Home of Hope in Jinja made our weekend as a team, worth a while. And we’d like to extend our thanks to the sponsors and management who welcomed us to their home,” added Rajiv.
The donation event took place on Sunday following the end of the Sexy Speed Rally that ran from 26-27th November 2021 in Jinja. The rally organized by MOSAC was won by Omar Mayanja. The rally attracted over twenty-two drivers including Rajiv Ruparelia although he bowed out of the race with a mechanical problem.
Duncan Mubiru Kikankane who finished fourth in the race was later announced the winner of the 2021 National Rally Championship after amassing more than 400 points from six rally competitions.
The colourful event was boosted by sponsors who included; Ruparelia Group’s Victoria University and Premier Recruitment Ltd, Movit Products, Vita foam, Lato Milk, Tuff Gong Holdings, and Idros Foods, among others.
The event also saw hundreds of students from the Eastern region scooping 60% discounted scholarships from Victoria university and also powerful youths grab job opportunities abroad from premier recruitment.
The president of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), Mr. Dipu Ruparelia also embraced the function.
About Home of Hope Jinja
Established in 2007, Home of Hope is a Non government organization (NGO) that takes care of children with multiple disabilities housed in a home.
It also reaches out to such children in the community through its occupational therapists and Physio-therapists who give them physical exercises and social workers as well who help teach the parents how to parent such children.
It also has outreach programs including counseling, small income generating projects for the parents and doing physical exercises with children, free medication for those with epilepsy through its psychiatric doctor.
Home Of Hope has an extended medical facility on its center which is open for the community with general medical services on pay for those from outside but free for any child with disability.
