Kiira police hunts husband for stabbing wife to death

Kiira regional police mouthpiece ASP James Mubi confirmed the incident

JINJA, UGANDA: Kiira regional police has teamed up with UPDF to hunt for a husband who cut his wife before fleeing.Yazid Kafuko aka Budhumbuli,43, allegedly cut his wife, Brenda Babirye,25, on November 26, this year.

Kiira regional police mouthpiece ASP James Mubi confirmed this incident and says that the couple are residents of Wairaka B, Kakira Town council in Jinja district. He assured residents in the village to be calm citing that security is working day and night to ensure justice for the deceased.

”We would like to inform the community of Wairaka B, Kakira town council in Jinja district that we are working day and night to ensure justice for Brenda Babirye. Police has teamed up with UPDF to hunt for the husband of the deceased, Yazid Kafuko aka Budhumbuli who allegedly cut his wife Brenda Babirye on November 26, this year” ASP Mubi said.

He (Mubi) added that the victim succumbed to injuries yesterday, Thursday from Mulago National Referral Hospital where she was referred to, after getting some treatment from Jinja Regional Referral Hospital where police took her immediately after the gruesome act.

”Police rushed the victim to Jinja regional referral hospital for medical attention and treatment, but was shortly transferred to Mulago national referral hospital where she succumbed to her injuries yesterday,” He added.

Police opened up a case of murder at Kakira CPS in Jinja, against the husband who is still on the run. ASP Mubi appealed to the public to avail security with any information which will enable them apprehend the suspect by reporting to the nearest police station or police post.

”Yazid Kafuko is wanted by police on murder charge vide CRB 396/2021 of CPS Kakira. We would like to appeal to the public that whoever has information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the prime suspect should contact the nearby police station or post,” Mubi said.
