Transport fares shoot up in Kibaale due to increase in fuel price

KIBAALE, UGANDA: Taxi drivers and Boda Boda riders in Kibaale District have increased transport fairs on various routes in order to catch up with the high fuel price rates in the country.

Goefery Businge the Kibaale District taxi drivers chairperson says a litre of fuel has increased from 3800/= to between 4700/= and 5000/= within a short period of time.

“This has prompted them to increase transport fairs by 5000/= to 7000/= for passengers according to each route for instance the Karuguza to Kampala where they used to charge 25000/= has been increased to 30000/=, from Karuguza to Kagadi from 8000/= to 15000/=, Karuguza to Mubende from 10000/= to 15000/=”. Said Mr. Businge.

Steven Mbabali the Karuguza town council Boda Boda Riders Chairperson has also decried fuel price increase noting that for the case of Boda Bodas it depends one the where passenger is being taken.
