High Rate of Covid-19 Vaccination turn up in Kagadi worries public

KAGADI, UGANDA: The overwhelming number of people turning up for Covid-19 vaccination in Mpefu Sub county, Kagadi district has created fear among the public who are worried that it may spark off the spread of the viral disease.

Though the vaccination exercise was extended at the Sub county level, the number of people seeking for jabs from Mpefu Sub county has remained high with an average of 200 people daily.

Majority of the people who go to the health facility do not abide to SOPs set by the ministry of health especially maintaining social distance which makes them stand a risk of getting infected.

Guard Niyonzima the former Mpefu Sub county speaker wants the Kagadi district health sector to set up other vaccination Centres in the Sub county so as to reduce on congestion at Mpefu health center iii.

“There many people using this facility and this makes them stand a risk of getting infected to the viral disease and also nurses at the facility are not safe, so we are asking the Kagadi district health sector to come for interviension”. Niyonzima said.

Magret Namara the officer in charge of Mpefu health center iii, the number of people turning for vaccination has increased for the past two weeks.

“Vaccination here is conducted once a week and also a number of Nurses at the facility have been off for the past few weeks and therefore our performance has been low, but since they are now back, we expect to increase our work rate hence reducing on the number”. Namara said.
