The district has cumulatively received over 18,000 vaccines of covid-19, and the district vaccination target is 96,600 among nationals and about 100,000 among the refugee population.

Overall there is an upsurge in vaccinations uptake as health workers and other stakeholders have also stepped up with community mobilization.

It is now visible that the demand for covid-19, vaccines among the refugees population is overwhelming as hundreds continue to throng health centers to get the covid-19, jabs.

Since the index case was registered in Adjumani on March 23, 2020, the district has tested 10902 samples, 991 tested positive, 939 recovered and the total number of deaths registered is 18.

The number of health workers infected with the deadly virus is 117, and none of them has succumbed to covid-19, and the positivity rate has gone down to 4% the lowest since the pandemic struck the district.

Meanwhile, the Adjumani CAO Wanje Michael has put the entire health fraternity here on tenterhooks issuing orders not to allow any health worker who has not received Covid-19 jabs not to access their places of work.

The decision of CAO Wanje Michael follows the mass defiance of health workers in the uptake of COvid-19, jabs, recent statistics show that over 200 health workers out of 1,100 have refused to receive the jabs

The strict orders were issued on October 29, 2021, and enforcement of the instructions that were supposed to take effect yesterday, Monday, November 1, 2021, is not being implemented as health workers in Adjumani hospital have continued accessing the facility unrestrained.

A source close to the office to the office of the DHO divulged that the instruction of CAO Wanje Michael could not be enforced because vaccines are inadequate.
