59-year-old woman hacked to death by son in law in Kiryandongo

KIRYANDONGO, UGANDA: Police in Kiryandongo is hunting a 25-year-old man for allegedly killing her mother-in-law on Wednesday morning.

The suspect is Muhamud Muzama a resident of Kiroko village in Kiryandongo Sub county in Kiryandongo district.

Muzama reportedly raided the home of Alice Naguta aged 59 years in Kibyaama village, Kigumba Sub county in Kiryandongo district on Wednesday morning at around midnight in her home and hacked her to death.

Naguta’s body was found with several cuts in the neck and the back lying in a pool of blood in her house by the residents who then notified police.

According to the reports, Muzama allegedly accused his mother-inlaw of trying to dissolve their marriage with her daughter identified as Carolyn Kakai who had divorced.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police spokesperson says Muzama married Kakai in 2017 but their marriage have been unstable following their disagreements.

“Their misunderstandings with Kakai forced the wife to divorce and return to her mother’s home and for a long time Muzama has been pleading to her mother in law to allow his wife to return to his home but all in vain and this compelled him to raid his mother in law’s home and hacked her to death”. Hakiza said.
According to Hakiza, Naguta was alone by the time of the attack.

Police picked up the body of the deceased and took it to Kiryandongo Hospital for a postmortem.
According to Hakiza, once arrested he will be taken to court for murder charges.
