KAKUMIRO: 38-year-old man arrested for allegedly killing businesswoman

KAKUMIRO, UGANDA: Police in Kakumiro District has arrested a 38-year-old woman suspected to have had a hand in the killing of a businesswoman.

The suspect, identified as John Tumushabe is a resident of Mukatebe village in Mwitanzige Sub-county.

It is alleged, Tumushabe and his colleagues still at large raided the home of Lilian Tugume Nalongo on Tuesday night and hacked her to death.

Tugume’s body was found in a pool of blood in her room by the neighbors on Tuesday morning who notified police.
The reason for her death is yet to be identified.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Regional police spokesperson says that police have arrested Tushabe to help them in investigating the cause of Nalongo’s death.
“Police and residents started hunting for the suspects yesterday and we managed to arrest one of the suspects by the names of John Tumushabe and he was found in hidden in the bush”. Hakiza said.

According to Hakiza, Tumushabe is said to be having information about the murder of Nalongo Tugume.
Apparently, Tumushabe is in police custody as police continue to search for the colleagues.
