Racheal Kawala the Wamala Regional police spokesperson in an interview with DailyExpress said the incident took place at around 7.30 pm in Kiboga District and when the reinforcement Police arrived, the attackers had already fled the area.

It should be remembered that this is the third incident involving an attack on Police officers within the Wamala Region in a period of less than one month.

The first incident occurred on December 1st, 2021, and the second one on December 8th, 2021 which was a double murder of two police officers and aggravated robbery of their guns at Sebobo village in Ssekanyonyi Town Council. These included Alfred Okech and Moses Kigongo and their guns have not been recovered since.

According to Racheal Kawala, the two officers were responding to an alleged complaint by two victims who claimed they had been robbed of proceeds from their tomato business.

One of the tomato sellers later identified himself as Sulaiman Kananya of Nansana whom the residents wanted to lynch but was saved by Police who whisked him away.

“We have no clues to the unidentified gangsters who shot dead the two Policemen and we are calling on the residents to cooperate with our officers who are hunting for these thugs”. Kawala said.
