Bunyoro Kitara Bishop calls for peace and unity during Christmas celebrations

BUNYORO, UGANDA; Bishop Samuel Kahuma the Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Bishop has challenged Ugandans to be peaceful and United during Christmas celebrations.

The Bishop made the remarks while delivering his Christmas message to all Christians on Wednesday.

According to Bishop Kahuma, Jesus Christ came to bring peace and unity in the world and therefore it is the role of all Christians to ensure peace and unity while celebrating their savior’s birthday.

“It is a role of all Christians to ensure peace and unity during Christmas celebrations since Jesus Christ came to promote peace and stability in the world, I know some of you out there, your planning to raid people’s homes to steal their properties, others are planning to kill their fellows but that’s not what Christmas is meant for”. Bishop Kahuma said.

Meanwhile, Brian Kaboyo the Hoima city Mayor challenged city dwellers to be security conscious during Christmas celebrations.

While delivering his Christmas message, Kaboyo said security must be very tight to ensure the protection of people and their properties.
“During such celebrations, criminality like housebreaking, fighting among others increase so security team should be vigilant”. Kaboyo said.

He also called upon the natives to maintain SOPs during the celebrations.
“Covid 19 is still on and highly infectious, so am also calling upon Ugandans to observe the SOPs so as to reduce chances of spreading the virus”. Kaboyo added.

Iddi Magezi the Hoima city councilor for Bwikya ward warned the public against being extravagant during this period. “Early January next year we are expecting our children to go back to school, so please don’t overspend, save the school fees for our children as we are heading to the reopening of schools”. Magezi said.
