KAGADI: 46-year-old man survives lynching by angry mob over defilement

Angry Residents chasing after the suspect accussed of defiling young girls

KAGADI, UGANDA: A 46-year-old man in Kyabasengya village in Muhooro Sub-county, Kagadi District on Monday morning survived lynching by angry residents on allegations of defiling young girls.

The suspect has been identified as Robert Nabaasa a resident of Kyabasengya village in Nyamacumu parish, Muhooro Sub-county in Kagadi District.

The Kyabasengya village vice Chairperson Patrick Turyamureba says the suspect was found attempting to defile a 14-year-old girl in his house.

“Nabaasa has for some time been accused of molesting young girls but this time around he was caught by his own wife who made an alarm after seeing her husband with a young girl and as soon as residents came, the young girl ran away”. Turyamureba said.

Colinah Alinaitwe the victim’s mother says together with other residents rushed to Nabaasa’s home after the wife of the suspected defiler made an alarm after seeing her husband and the young girl in her bedroom.
“My daughter has several times reported to me that Nabaasa is molesting her and he has slept with her twice”

Some girls who have been victims say that he has been molesting them after giving them 2000/= to 3000/=.
” I was walking around morning hours heading to church, and he touched on my breasts, tore my dress, and told me to go and sleep with him such that he gives me 2000/=but I refused and ran away”, said one of the victims.

The residents beat him up before he was rescued by police that took him away and detained him at Kagadi CPS as investigations into the incident continues.
