Kankwenza to appear in court over abuse of President, First Son – Police

Charles Twine noted that Kakwenza Rukirabashaija will be charged with offensive communication under the Computer Misuse Act.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Uganda Police through the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has revealed that novelist Rukirabashaija Kakwenza who was arrested on allegations of offensive communication will appear in court on Tuesday morning.

Rukirabashaija Kakwenza who is famous for his novel The Greedy Barbarian was arrested last week on Tuesday by armed men who raided his home at Kisaasi, Nakawa Division in Kampala City.

Charles Twiine, the CID Spokesperson, noted that through his two tweets Rukirabashaija Kakwenza attacked the person of the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his son, who also doubles as the commander Land forces, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, using abusive words.

Charles Twine noted that Kakwenza Rukirabashaija will be charged with offensive communication under the Computer Misuse Act.

This is the third time he is being arrested. In all incidents, Kakwenza has claimed that he was tortured. He was arrested in April and September 2020.
