Bodies of two fishermen retrieved from Lake Albert

HOIMA, UGANDA: Two bodies of the two fishermen who drowned in the waters of Lake Albert at Kibiro landing site in Hoima District have been retrieved.

The deceased identified as one Godfrey Kandole, 30, and Richard, 35 all fishermen attached to Kibiro landing site drowned in Lake Albert waters on Tuesday night at around 9 pm after their boat capsized due to strong winds.

Since then, Marine police and fishermen have been searching for their bodies in Lake Albert waters.

According to Abigaba, the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their respective relatives for burial arrangements.

In July 2021, two fishermen died in Lake Albert in Kikuube district after their boat capsized. The deceased fishermen were only identified as Ajaruva (35) and Richard (24), both attached to Bugoma landing site in Buhuka parish, Kyangwali sub-county in Kikuube district.

On June 26, 2021, two fishermen were killed on the lake Albert waters in Kikuube district after their boat was hit by a hippopotamus.
