Delhi Public School International assures parents of pupils’ safety as physical classes resume

The Naguru-based international school in its first reopening after over 22 months assured parents and guardians of their children’s safety as all measures and guidelines mandated to control the possible spread and contraction of the deadly virus.

Delhi Public School International (DPS), an international curriculum-based school in Uganda has today (Monday) fully reopened for Preprimary, Primary and Secondary classes as schools countrywide resumed physical classes for the first time since March 2020.

The Naguru-based international school in its first reopening after over 22 months assured parents and guardians of their children’s safety as all measures and guidelines mandated to control the possible spread and contraction of the deadly virus.

Speaking to parents who accompanied their children on Monday – the reporting date, the school teachers and executive staff said all pupils and visitors will be required to fully observe and implement the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and health measures as directed by the government.

“Health, safety, and well-being of pupils, students, staff, and families is top of mind and that it is committed to following government guidelines and ensuring that they are a good partner for everyone in the community,” one of the staff told the parents.
“On arrival, all the staff and pupils are expected to undergo temperature screening while the desks have been rearranged for social distancing,” he added.

The School also took to social media to announce the enthusiastic long-waited reopening exercise promising to dedicate all they can to ensure learners adapt to learning schemes again, as it was before.

“We are glad to have our students back, and can’t wait to take this exciting term on,” the school posted on social media.
It added: “We are so happy to be back to our school. We continue to observe SOP measures to ensure our DPSI family is safe”.

The reopening was confirmed by President Museveni in his 2021 end-of-year address to the nation. The learners have stayed at home for two years and there are learners that have never stepped in school since the March 2020 closure despite attaining school-going age.
