LONDON, UK: Everton Football Club have sacked Rafael Benitez following a recent run of dismal performances and an eventual defeat on Saturday to relegation-threatened Norwich City.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss who joined Everton in June 2021, departs with immediate effect according to a brief statement released by the club via its website.
“Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as First Team manager. Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the club with immediate effect,” the brief statement reads in part.
“An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.”
According to inside reports, club legend Duncan Ferguson is poised to take over as head coach on an interim basis.
