KAKUMIRO: 54-year-old man drowns in River Mpongo after bees attack

William Kamuhanda one of the residents whom Bagasa had moved with told DailyExpress that they were attacked by bees which forced them to run and alleges Bagasa’s drowning to the attack by the bees.

KAKUMIRO, UGANDA: Residents of Kisiita town council in Kakumiro District were on Monday shocked after discovering a 54-year-old man dead after drowning in River Mpongo.
The deceased has been identified as John Bagasa a resident of Rwemirama, Nyabirungi Ward, in Kisiita town council Kakumiro.

According to the residents, Bagasa left his home on Saturday afternoon and went to carry out fishing on River Mpongo in Nyakahita village, however his failure to return back home forced his relatives and residents to search for him where he was later discovered dead in River Mpongo on Sunday evening.

William Kamuhanda one of the residents whom Bagasa had moved with on the unfateful day told DailyExpress that they were attacked by bees which forced them to run and alleges Bagasa’s drowning to the attack by the bees.

“We were attacked by bees and everybody had to run away, after some time I started to search for him and he was nowhere to be seen, I went back home and alerted his family members and relatives and on Sunday we went together for his search in River Mpongo until he was discovered”. Kamuhanda said.

Wilberforce Agaba a son of the deceased says he has been a fisherman at River Mpongo for over 20 yet and they were alerted by William Kamuhanda who had gone with the Dad for fishing.

“We received bad news that my father and Kamuhanda were attacked by bees in the swamps of River Mpongo and in his run, he drowned in the River waters which led to his death”. Agaba said.
