Lands Ministry dismisses Muganyizi appointment as Kikuube District Land Boss

In the letter dated 15th December 2021, the permanent secretary to the Ministry of Lands wrote to Kikuube District leaders approving the appointment of other leaders except for Muganyizi.

KIKUUBE, UGANDA; The Ministry of Lands, Urban Planning and Development has canceled the appointment of Mr. Ignatius Muganyizi as the chairperson of Kikuube District Lands board following protest by residents and district leaders on his appointment.

Muganyizi was appointed by the Kikuube District council in October last year, however, his appointment was followed by protests from residents and area MPs accusing him of having played a hand in land grabbing activities in Kikuube when he was the chairperson Land board at Kabwoya Sub county in the previous years.

After Muganyizi’s appointment, residents whose land was grabbed during Muganyizi’s era stormed the office of the Kikuube District RDC in protest. Despite the protests, Muganyizi was later confirmed by the Kikuube District council.

According to residents was the Kabwoya Sub county land board Chairperson between 2009 and 2016 and in his era, he connived with Rich people who grabbed their land leaving them homeless.

In the letter dated 15th December 2021, the permanent secretary to the Ministry of Lands wrote to Kikuube District leaders approving the appointment of other leaders except for Muganyizi.

The Ministry asked Kikuube District leaders to appoint another person other than Muganyizi whom they accused of being incompetent.

Meanwhile, the Kikuube District CAO Mr Moses Chuna Kapolon has confirmed Muganyizi’s dismissal and added that they are planning to appoint another person to fill the position.
