18-year-old girl in Kakumiro accuses her uncle of impregnating her

The victim explains that after Mugisa (her uncle) taking her to his home, two weeks later, he started forcing her to have sex and threatened to kill her in case she reveals what happened.

KAKUMIRO, UGANDA: An 18-year-old girl in Kakumiro District is accusing her uncle of impregnating her and later forcing her to abort.
The girl whose names were withheld is a resident of Kihanga village in Kakindo Sub-county in Kakumiro District.

According to the reports, in October last year, her uncle identified as Abdul Mugisa aged 50 a resident of Kyabajumira Owansasa village in Kakindo Sub-county went to the girl’s home and asked them to give him the girl to support him at home after a divorce with his wife.

The victim explains that after Mugisa taking her to his home, two weeks later, he started forcing her to have sex and threatened to kill her in case she reveals what happened.

The victim adds that she conceived and her uncle forced her to take herbs which made her develop stomach complications due to too much bleeding and an abortion occurred.

Prince Mupenzi the brother to the victim says his sister was rushed to St. Mary’s Health Centre iv in Kakindo Town council for better medication after her conditions worsened.

Mupenzi adds that he reported to the matter to Kakindo Police police station but he did not get justice.
“Mugisa impregnated my sister and forced her to abort, we reported the matter to the police and he was arrested earlier this year but later released”. Mupenzi said.

Meanwhile, the accused Mugisa has denied the allegations saying that the girl is instead his wife and they are legally married.

By the time of this report, police was yet to release any comment about the matter.
