BREAKING: Former Ethics Minister Fr. Simon Lokodo dies at 64

Fr. Lokodo passed on this morning in Geneva Switzerland according to a brief announcement by the Uganda Human Rights Commission – UHRC where he has been working as a commissioner.

KAMPALA, UGANDA: The Former Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Fr. Simon Lokodo has died in Geneva, Switzerland, the Uganda Human Rights Commission announced Saturday morning.

Fr. Lokodo, 64, passed on this morning according to a brief announcement by UHRC where he has been working as a commissioner.

“It’s with great shock and pain that we‘ve learnt of the passing of our Honourable Member of the Commission, Fr. Simon Lokodo. He passed on this morning in Flag of Switzerland. The Commission will share details in due course. May the Almighty Rest His Soul in Eternal Peace,” UHRC said in a tweet.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Anita Among eulogized the deceased as a great leader the country has lost saying Fr. Lokodo who served with dedication and had so much life ahead of him.”

“My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Hon. Fr Simon Lokodo, the people of Karamoja and the Country,” Among tweeted.

Background

Fr. Simon Lokodo served as Minister of State for Ethics & Integrity in the Office of the President of Uganda since 2011, and previously as Minister of State for Industry from 2009 to 2011.

He also severed ad Member of Parliament representing Dodoth County, Kaabong District since 2006 until 2021.

Simon Lokodo was born in Kaabong District on 28 October 1957. He holds the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University. His Master of Arts in Theology was also obtained from the same university of Rome.
