RUKUNGIRI: Woman arrested for mercilessly stabbing husband

The suspect was by Friday January 28 being detained at Rwenshama Police Station in Rukungiri District

RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA: Police in Rukungiri has in custody a 32-year-old woman arrested for stabbing her husband and severely wounding him in the stomach.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate confirmed the development identifying the woman as one Patience Natukunda aka Kabaya, a Rwandan national and resident of Ncwera village, in Bwambara sub-county and the husband as Siraji Monday, a fisherman at Lake Edward.

Locals allege that the two have been together as husband and wife for 2 months but on the fateful day, the suspect (Natukunda) moved out and came back home drunk at around 11 pm.

The couple then started fighting until at around 1 am in the night and during the fight, Natukunda picked up a knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach leaving his intestines out.
The victim was then rushed to Nyakibale Hospital in critical condition where he is being attended to currently.

The Police led by OC Rwenshama ASP Amoding Esther and other personnel visited the scene of crime, arrested the suspect, and is now detained at Rwenshama Police Station.
