HOIMA, UGANDA: The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Hon. Andrew Byakutaga has vowed not to leave his office unless the appointing authority of the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Dr. Solomon Gaffabusa Iguru does so.

This was after the head of Babiito ruling clan Chief Prince Okwiiri Eng. Fred Mugenyi directed the prime minister with other two Kingdom officials to be sacked on allegations of mismanagement of office.

The trio were sacked on accusation of lack of transparency and accountability for the Kingdom resources.

According to the letter dated 30th January 2022, signed by Mugenyi, the decision to sack the three officials was reached on 29th January 2022 after the Babiito general assembly held at Karuzika palace in Hoima city.

Mugenyi has also accused the prime minister of mismanagement of the Kingdom sectors and property, engagement in the sale of Kingdom land and disrespect of the Babiito ruling clan among other issues.

However in his response in a letter dated 31st January 2022, Hon. Byakutaga has disregarded the Mugenyi’s order and described it as useless.

According to Byakutaga, the ruling clan and the Okwiri both have no powers either to appoint or dismiss any kingdom official either by individual or by virtual of authority in the office.

The prime minister said that the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom is the only person with the authority to appoint or dismiss any kingdom official.
