Former Kapchorwa District Boss Chepkurui Songhor dead at 69

The deceased is hailed by Sebei-Region leaders for playing a key role in fighting against poverty through advocacy and promotion of education.

KAPCHORWA, UGANDA: Mr. Christopher Chepkurui Songhor, the former LCV chairperson of Kapchorwa District has died at 69 years, reports DailyExpress.

Mr. Songhor was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon at Rubaga Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted battling diabetic complications.

The deceased is hailed by Sebei-Region leaders for playing a key role in fighting against poverty through advocacy and promotion of education.

Songhor previously served as headteacher at Sebei College Tegeres and Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale City before joining elective politics.

He also served as Resident District Commissioner (RDC) between 2006 to 2012 for Bukwo and Oyam districts before he was elected as district Chairperson.

Ms. Chemusto Conslate, the deceased’s daughter eulogized her father as a simple, down-to-earth man with brilliant ideas.
“Dad was a simple man, down to earth with brilliant ideas. He had a forgiving heart. He brought us up with a purpose in life,” Ms Chemusto said.

Songhor was the proprietor of Alpha Nursery Primary School in Kapchorwa and a top landlord in Kapchorwa Municipality.

According to family sources, the burial for Songhor will take place on Thursday this week at Chepukat village, East Division, Kapchorwa Municipality.
