Bunyoro Kingdom Justice Committee to investigate Prime Minister’s accusations

According to the reports, the Bunyoro Prime Minister and other two Kingdom officials withdrew money from the Kingdom’s Bank account without the notice of the members and failed to account for the money withdrawn.

HOIMA, UGANDA: The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Justice committee has pledged to carry out investigations on matters of Leadership and accountability that were put against the Kingdom’s Prime Minister Hon. Andrew Byakutaga and two other kingdom officials.

In a letter dated 2nd February 2022, the chairperson of the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Justice committee Hon. Fred Kaliisa Kabagambe has asked the chief prince Okwiri Eng. Fred Mugenyi to make an official writing to committee stipulating the issues complained about the Prime Minister’s leadership together with evidence within a two weeks ultimatum.

A few days ago the chief Prince in his letter dated 30th January 2022 directed the prime minister and other two Kingdom officials to leave their offices with immediate effect.

In the letter, members of the Babito ruling clan accused the Kingdom’s Prime Minister and two officials of failure to show accountability for the Kingdom’s money.

According to the reports, the Prime Minister and other two Kingdom officials withdrew money from the Kingdom’s Bank account without the notice of the members and failed to account for the money withdrawn.

The members also accused the prime minister of mismanagement of the Kingdom Properties including the destruction of the Bugoma Central Forest Reserve, Muhangaizima ancestral Land among others.

However, Yesterday in his letter, the chairperson of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Justice committee said, the chief prince has no authority to make a ruling on the dismissal of the Prime Minister.

Hon. Kabagambe asked the ruling clan members to submit an official letter to the committee so that the accessed officials be listened to before the final judgment.
