Four arrested for gang-raping 30-year-old woman in Kakumiro

Kakindo police station CID has confirmed the arrest of the four thugs and have been detained at Kakumiro CPS as investigations continue. Adding that the four will be charged with rape and murder charges.

KAKUMIRO, UGANDA: Police in Kakumiro District has arrested 4 thugs for allegedly defiling a 30-year-old woman identified as one Malitia Nakate, a resident of Mutumbwa cell, Kakindo Town council in Kakumiro district.

Police identified the four suspects as Moses Muyombya aged 46, Saphat Karugaba aged 37, Ambrose Gumisiriza aged 32, and Geoffrey Tibatenwa commonly known as Zigido, 28, all residents of Kakindo Town council.

The victim, currently admitted at Kakindo Health Center III in critical condition says she was raided by the four men on her way back home from the market who beat her up, gang-raped, and later dumped her in the nearby bush.

“I was coming from Kakindo Market, and on my way, I met four men who after a scuffle to take away my bag started beating me, gang-raped me and eventually took off with my money and other items I had inside the bag”. Nakate narrated to this reporter.

Speaking to DailyExpress, Isaac Mugabe the Kakindo police station CID has confirmed the arrest of the four thugs and have been detained at Kakumiro CPS as investigations continue. Adding that the four will be charged with rape and murder charges.

However, residents asked police to make community sensitizations in the area due to increased crime in Kakindo Town council.
