Buliisa: 55% of families use bush and other public places as latrines

Dr. Mugabe says the habit has increased from 40% to 55% following the recent floodings on various landing sites on Lake Albert which led to the drowning of their Pit Latrines.

Dr. Robert Mugabe one of the Health officers in Buliisa District has revealed that 55% of families in the district do not have pit latrines.

Dr. Mugabe says the habit has increased from 40% to 55% following the recent floodings on various landing sites on Lake Albert which led to the drowning of their Pit Latrines.

According to Mugabe, the most affected areas are those near Lake Albert shores.
“Despite an increase in the number of people who are not using latrines in the district, we have not yet received any victim of cholera, this is because of the recent cholera vaccination in the district”. Dr. Mugabe said.

He, however, urged residents to drink boiled water and construct new pit latrines to those who were affected by the recent flooding.
