Grandfield Oryono takes over as new Adjumani CAO

ADJUMANI, UGANDA: The former Apac district Chief Administrative Officer -CAO Mr. Grandfield Oryono has officially taken over office as the new CAO of Adjumani district.

In a low-profile handover ceremony witnessed by the Adjumani district chairman yesterday [February 22, 2022], Mr. Grandfield Oryono pledged to execute his duties diligently.

“I believe I will be able to execute my work without difficulties and it will be based on the cooperation of the elected and appointed leaders in the district”. Oryono remarked.

He laid emphasis on discipline for authority and encouraged technical officers to consult more often in order to build a more formidable workforce.

Oryono said “I have not attracted any litigations or court actions where i have worked, neither did I return money to the central government due to low absorption.

The Adjumani district chairman Anyama Ben said since he took over the office in May 2021. He has worked with two CAO, s without any disagreements and believes his relationship with CAO Grandfield Oryono, will be solid.

He however warned, the new CAO against crossing what he termed as redlines, which he notes includes; corruption, acts of indiscipline, and creating warring factions among civil servants.

Anyama appealed to all the civil servants to cooperate with the new CAO and disregard the rumors regarding his moral standing.

The permanent secretary Ministry of local government recently withdrew, the designate Adjumani CAO Mr.Gwokto Martin from Kitgum district, and in a dramatic twist of events transferred Grandfield Oryono to Adjumani from Apac.

In a placement letter dated, February 7, 2022, the permanent secretary instructed CAO Grandfield Oryono to report to his duty station immediately and start work.

Mr. Grandfield Oryono reported to Adjumani district on February 8, 2022, he was introduced to heads of departments and met the district chairman Anyama Ben, before travelling back.

Adjumani district has been without a CAO, after CAO Wanje Michael was indicted by the anti-corruption court for the offence he allegedly committed when he was in charge of Apac district.

CAO Wanje Michael has accordingly been interdicted by the permanent secretary pending the verdict of the anti-corruption court on the matter.
