KAMPALA, UGANDA: Brig. Charles Bakahumura, the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) Chief of Logistics and Engineering has refuted “fake propaganda” making rounds that he has reportedly been arrested and detained by the military.

Several online media outlets on Friday afternoon alleged that Brig. Bakahumura had been picked by the officers from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and whisked away in detention. This according to him is untrue and being spread ‘out of malice”.

“I have just received many messages from friends and well-wishers from around the world asking me if it true that I have been arrested. This is not true and I don’t know the intentions of the people who are writing and spreading such falsehoods,” Brig. Bakahumura said in a tweet (below) on Friday evening. “I guess it out of malice,” he added.

When contacted, the UPDF Spokesperson, Brig. Felix Kulaigye also dismissed the reports and said he was not aware of any arrest on the matter. “I don’t know about any arrest,” Kulaigye said.
