KAMPALA, UGANDA: The territorial Police of Kawempe is investigating a case of murder case against Gideon Nabasa, 31, a private security guard with Afrisafe Guard company.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said Nabasa was arrested in the wee hours of Sunday morning in Kawempe during a routine patrol at around 4:30 am.

“Today (13/03/2022) at about 0430hrs while our officers were on motorised patrols in Kazo Lugoba Zone Kaazo Ward, Nabweru Division Wakiso District, they found Nabasa carrying a sack on a motorcycle registration number UFG 635P,” Owoyesgyire noted.

According to the KMP Deputy publicist, the officers on troll became suspicious of what Nabasa was carrying and on asking for a search. They found a dead body of a male adult suspected to be in his early 20s in the sack and immediately arrested him.

Owoyesigyire added that a team of investigators was called in to investigate at the scene and the body was later conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for a post mortem.

He noted that the dead body retired from the security had sustained two wounds which are suspected to be a result of a stabbing.

However, by press time, Nabasa who is currently detained at Kawempe police station was yet to disclose to police the identity of the deceased and where he got the body from.

““Nabasa hasn’t yet cooperated well with the police to help us identify the deceased and where he got the body from,” said Owoyesgire, adding, “Our investigations to identify the deceased are ongoing.”
