‘Jacob Oulanyah Death Reports’: What We Know So Far

This is not the first time Oulanyah is announced dead. A few months ago, some people had claimed that the speaker and Omoro County MP had died. But these reports were later debunked.

The rumors that Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah could be dead have surfaced on the web since Tuesday evening raising public concern and outcry in the country.

Oulanyah was in February this year secretly flown to Seattle, United States for was what then a maiden flight of Uganda Airlines to the pacific country. His condition according to medical experts was said to be worrying and needed specialized medical treatment overseas, although the illness he is battling is yet to be known.

However, despite rumors circulating on social media pronouncing that Jacob Oulanyah is dead, Officials at parliament have dispelled the reports and affirmed that the Speaker of parliament is alive although still battling his sickness under critical medical attention in the US.

Through a Tweet on Tuesday night, Chris Obore, the director of communications at Parliament rallied Ugandans to “ignore speculation” and said it is only the deputy speaker Among to inform MPs and public about his boss’s health status like she did when he was taken to the US.”

Obore added that ‘in dismay’ some people were already editing the speaker’s Wikipedia profile, announcing him dead, which he says is unprofessional, unethical and not acceptable.

“Some people are hacking into Wikipedia &editing the profile of Sp Jacob Oulanyah. They log in thru VPN to avoid detection. Deputy Sp Anita Among is traveling to see her boss & is the only person to inform MPs and public like she did when he was taken to the US. Ignore speculation,” The Spokesperson of parliament stated in his tweet.

On March 15, Among suspended the house sine die to check on her boss in the US. She is alleged to have traveled with Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo and Jacob Oulanyah’s Brother. The trio was booked to depart from Entebbe International Airport at 5:00 pm and expected to arrive in Washington on Wednesday, according to sources.

Among is expected to give an update on Oulanyah’s health in coming hours or even days.

Hon. Oulanyah was elected the Speaker of the eleventh Parliament after beating his former boss Rebecca Kadaga to the position.

Oulanyah vanished from the general public eye for a month after presiding over parliament for the studying of the 2021/2022 monetary yr finances at Kololo Independence grounds final yr, shortly after his swearing-in as speaker.

The Omoro County Member of parliament is a Ugandan agricultural economist, lawyer, and politician.

Profile

Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah was born on March 23, 1965, within the then-Gulu District, to Nathan L’okori and Karen Atwon.

He attended St. Joseph’s College Layibi, Dr. Obote College Boroboro, and Kololo Senior Secondary School for his O-Level and A-Level research. He enrolled in Makerere University, the East African Community’s oldest college, in 1988 to check agricultural economics.

Jacob earned a Bachelor of Arts in that topic in 1991. He earned a postgraduate diploma in authorized follow from the Law Development Centre (LDC) in 1995.

Jacob Oulanyah doesn’t have a spouse and is at present single. He was beforehand married to Lady Winnie Amoo Okot, however the pair acquired divorced in 2016.

They have two youngsters collectively, who stay with their mom in San Diego, California, after shedding custody of the kids because of the divorce.
