KAMPALA, UGANDA: The speaker of Uganda’s Eleventh Parliament, Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah is dead.
Oulanyah’s death was pronounced by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a tweet on Sunday morning.
“Countrymen and countrywomen, it is with a lot of sadness that I announce the death of Rt. Jacob Oulanyah, the Speaker of Parliament, ” Museveni tweeted Sunday.
The President added, ” I got the information of this sad news at 10:30am East African Time from People that have been with him and the doctor that was caring for him in the intensive care unit.”
Museveni described Oulanyah as a good Cadre who relentlessly performed his duties both as a deputy speaker for the 9th and 10th parliament and as a full speaker of the 11th parliament.
The speaker dies days after rumors that he had passed marred the internet and social media prompting the deputy Anita Among and the Chief Justice Owiny Dollo to fly to the US where has been receiving specialized treatment.

Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah was born on March 23, 1965, within the then-Gulu District, to Nathan L’okori and Karen Atwon.
He attended St. Joseph’s College Layibi, Dr. Obote College Boroboro, and Kololo Senior Secondary School for his O-Level and A-Level research. He enrolled in Makerere University, the East African Community’s oldest college, in 1988 to check agricultural economics.
Jacob earned a Bachelor of Arts in that topic in 1991. He earned a postgraduate diploma in authorized follow from the Law Development Centre (LDC) in 1995.

Jacob Oulanyah doesn’t have a spouse and is at present single. He was beforehand married to Lady Winnie Amoo Okot, however the pair acquired divorced in 2016.
They have two youngsters collectively, who stay with their mom in San Diego, California, after shedding custody of the kids because of the divorce.
